1. Charles Darwin
(1809-1882)

The British naturalist, wrote  On the Origin of Species by Means
of Natural Selection  in 1859, following his famous five-year 
voyage to the Galapagos Islands on the HMS  Beagle. No scientific 
theory since Copernicus has been so controversial, or done so much
to change our understanding of the world and our place in it, as 
Darwin's theory of evolution.
